LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State men's tennis team cruised to the victory Sunday afternoon with 6-1 victory over UT Permian Basin at the NM State Tennis Center.

The Aggies (5-3) first swept the Falcons in doubles action on all three courts.
Stijn de Haan and
Mauri Benitez captured the point for NM State when they bested their counterparts 6-4 at the No. 2 doubles position.

Sergi Espias gave the Aggies a 2-0 advantage to kick off singles action when his opponent retired before the start of the second set after Espias had won 6-0 on court No. 4. Benitez made it 3-0 in favor of the Aggies shortly thereafter, blanking Gabriel Capuano of UTPB 6-0, 6-0.

Luis Flores put the finishing touches at No. 2 singles when he defeated Jordan Minjoot 6-1, 6-0 and clinched the match. The only blemish on Sunday for the Aggies was de Haan having to retire in the second set due to injury, giving the Falcons (0-3) their lone point of the match.

Yusuke Nishitani cracked the line-up on Sunday and took advantage of his opportunity with a convincing 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.
Christofer Goncalves wrapped things up for NM State despite being challenged before picking up the 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (10-8) victory.

New Mexico State remains home this upcoming weekend as it entertains Western New Mexico (Feb. 16) and UT Arlington (Feb. 18). Friday's match against the Mustangs is scheduled for 1 p.m. (MT) while Sunday's contest against the Mavericks is set for 11 a.m.
