LAS VEGAS – New Mexico State men's tennis dominated its last match of the weekend on Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Fertitta Tennis Complex, defeating UC Riverside 4-1.

NM State (4-3) raced to an early lead by winning the doubles point.
Stijn de Haan and
Mauri Benitez ousted Kyle McCan and Filip Engstrom 6-1 on court No. 2 before
Christofer Goncalves and
Luis Flores captured the doubles point for NM State with a 6-2 win on court No. 1.

NM State stretched its lead to 2-0 at the start of singles when McCan retired against de Haan on court No. 3. Benitez retired on court No. 6 before the Aggies clinched with two-straight wins.

Sergi Espias ran the Aggies' lead to 3-1 with a 6-3, 6-1 win over the Highlanders' (2-6) Nabil Abdallah. Shortly thereafter with Goncalves back in the lineup, the senior secured the victory for New Mexico State with a 6-2, 7-5 win at the top singles position.

NM State wrapped up its weekend in Las Vegas with a 2-2 record including victories over Weber State and UC Riverside. The Aggies return to Las Cruces on Sunday, Feb. 11, at 11 a.m. (MT) for a showdown with UT Permian Basin at the NM State Tennis Center.
