LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State men's tennis team cruised to victory Thursday afternoon at the NM State Tennis Center with a 6-1 win over New Mexico Military Institute.

Doubles action opened up with NM State's No. 3 doubles team blanking their counterparts 6-0. The Aggies (8-5) mixed things up a bit at the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles slots as
Christofer Goncalves teamed up with
Sergi Espias on court No. 2 for the 6-3 win which clinched the doubles point for NM State.

In the line-up for the first time this dual season,
Yusuke Nishitani took advantage of his opportunity and blanked his opponent 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 6 position. Freshman
Louis Menard, playing one spot up from his usual spot, followed suit with Nishitani and blanked Ned Merrion on court No. 5 and gave the Aggies a 3-0 lead.

Espias clinched the match for New Mexico State soon after with a 6-3, 6-2 defeat of Marcel Agbegne at the No. 3 singles position.
Enrique Asmar added onto the win total with a 6-4, 6-2 win on court No. 4. Goncalves was challenged at the top singles slot, but pulled away for the 7-6, 7-4 win before NMMI's (4-3) Emanuel Mallya bested
Stijn de Haan for its lone point of the match.

New Mexico State remains home next week as it plays host to Battle of I-25 rival New Mexico next Thursday, March 15, at the NM State Tennis Center with a 1 p.m. first serve.
