LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State women's tennis team is gearing up to open its 2018-19 campaign this weekend (Sept. 21-23) as it plays host to the 2018 Aggie Invitational at the NM State Tennis Center.

The three-day tournament will consists of players from UTEP, Western New Mexico, New Mexico, Mesa Community College and UT Permian Basin. Teams will play in two 16-person singles flights and a round robin singles flight as well as a 16-team doubles flight.

Competition is scheduled to begin with doubles action all three days. Friday will begin at 1 p.m. (MT) while Saturday and Sunday are scheduled for 9 a.m. starts. As always, admission is free for all NM State men's and women's tennis matches and tournaments.

Clara Rizea and facing WNMU's Karina Diaz-Kolovos and Carolina Torrico. Freshman
Chloe Gavino will play alongside
Nadia Justiniano as the two take on UTPB's sibling duo of Anastasia Obreque and Paulina Obreque. Last, but not least, is
Gavi Kalaga and
Rebecca Keijzerwaard of NM State against MCC's Cidny Anders and Alahazay Rossi.

In the Crimson singles flight, Torregrosa squares off against UNM's Ruth Copas while Keijzerwaard faces off against Western New Mexico's Torrico.

At the bottom of the Crimson singles flight, Harlas battles Sabrina Chavez from MCC to kick things off while Rubio opens up with UTPB's Julia Ramalho. In the same bracket, Kalaga will take on UNM's Natasha Munday with Challa taking on UTEP's Erandi Martinez.

The White singles bracket has Janssen with a bye on Friday to start things off. Rizea, a sophomore transfer, rounds out the top-half of that bracket, taking on WNMU's Jaci Fulgenzi. At the bottom of the White singles bracket, Justiniano will face Rine Nozaki from UTEP while Gavino makes her Aggie debut in singles against UNM's Madelyn Chavez.
