Asmar Earns Prestigious Academic All-America Award

NM State men’s tennis senior Enrique Asmar joined an elite group of student-athletes, earning Google Cloud Academic All-America ® honors presented by CoSIDA.

AUSTIN – New Mexico State men's tennis senior Enrique Asmar joined an elite group of student-athletes late Friday morning when he was named to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-American ® At-Large team (third-team), as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Asmar becomes the 65th Aggie all-time to earn Academic All-America as selected by CoSIDA and just the second men's tennis player ever to earn this distinction with Gustave Diep winning the award back-to-back years from 2009-10. The last Aggie to earn Academic All-America accolades was Kaylee Neal from volleyball back in 2017.

Asmar has been honored by the long-time national organization every year he has been eligible and recently graduated with a 3.97 in civil engineering. The Barranquilla, Colombia, product is now headed to The Farm where he'll be pursuing a master's degree at Stanford University.

The four-year letter winner wrapped up his senior campaign with 15 wins in singles play with 19 victories in doubles action – 16 of which came alongside fellow senior Stijn de Haan. He concludes his career in the Crimson & White with 77 career victories in singles with 68 career wins in doubles.
