255 Aggies to be Recognized on 3.0 Night

NM State Athletics will honor student-athletes maintaining a 3.0 GPA or better at halftime of the men's basketball game on Nov. 1.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – On Wednesday night, NM State Athletics will recognize 255 student-athletes who are currently maintaining a grade-point average of 3.0 or better. Those athletes will be honored at the annual 3.0 Night at halftime of the men's basketball game on Wednesday, Feb. 1, when the Aggies host Stephen F. Austin at 7 p.m.
 
Among this group, football leads the way with 50 of its members posting a 3.0 or better while women's track and field and cross country ranked second with 32 members reaching the threshold. The lengthy list also includes athletes from swimming & diving (30), women's soccer (25), baseball (25), volleyball (17), softball (18), women's basketball (11), women's tennis (10), men's cross country (9), men's basketball (9), men's tennis (8), women's golf (6) and men's golf (5).
 
Notably, seven programs (men's cross country, men's tennis, women's golf, softball, soccer, swimming & diving and women's tennis) will have more than 75% of their rosters represented on 3.0 night. Women's tennis paces all programs with 100% of its spring roster represented while 90% of swimming & diving's roster are also among the honorees.

All 16 men's and women's sports have now combined to maintain a GPA of 3.0 or better for 17 and a half years (35 consecutive semesters) and 65% of all student-athletes have a 3.0 or better. Additionally, 50 student-athletes posted a perfect 4.0 GPA last semester while 26 student-athletes maintain a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA. 134 student-athletes are also deemed Crimson Scholars based on their ability to maintain above a 3.5 GPA.
