LINCOLN, Neb. - The NM State Aggies are headed to Lincoln, Neb. To play the 15-5 Nebraska Cornhuskers in a three-game series March 22-24. Game one will start at 5 p.m. MT, game two has a start time of 1 p.m. MT with the third and final game set to start at 12 p.m. MT.
Current Streaks
There are five Aggies that are currently on a hitting-streak.
Romeo Ballesteros is on a five-game hitting streak which is currently the longest hit-streak on the team.
Titus Dumitru,
Keith Jones II,
Preston Godfrey and
Damone Hale are currently all on a three-game hit-streak.
There are nine Aggies that are currently on an on-base streak. Jones is on the longest streak on the team reaching safely in 16 games. Hale is not far behind him reaching base in 14 games.
Nick Gore, Dumitru, Namie, Ballesteros, Godfrey,
Steve Solorzano and
Edwin Martinez-Pagani are the other seven Aggies that are currently on an on-base streak.
Road Trip
The Aggies have a tough road trip ahead of them as they will play eight games in eleven days. They started with the game against UNM on March 19 where they lost 4-14. With the first game played in Albuquerque, the Aggies will have to travel 829 miles from Albuquerque to Lincoln, Neb.
For just their third road series of the season, the Aggies will head to Lincoln, Neb. To play the Nebraska Cornhuskers in a three game weekend series. From there the Aggies have plans to head back west to Tucson, Ariz.
Once in Arizona the Aggies will play the Arizona Wildcats in just one mid-week game. From Arizona the Aggies will head to Dallas, Texas to play the Dallas Baptist Patriots, just their second conference foe of the season.
Conference Rankings
The Aggies are still dominating the plate as they rank first in seven statistical measures. The first and arguably the most important is batting average. The Aggies have a batting average of .321 which puts them atop of the conference.
With 123 walks this season the Aggies have proven to have some of the best plate discipline in the conference as they are in first place by 12 walks over LA Tech. Dominating with the sticks and walks the Aggies have managed to record a .439 on-base percentage this season which leads the conference.
So far this season, the Aggies the Aggies have driven in 199 runs which leads the conference and is 16th in the nation. With those runs the Aggies have an average runs per game of 9.5 which also lead the conference and is 22nd in the nation. The Aggies still rank first in the conference in both triples (10) and triples per game with .48.
Scouting the Cornhuskers
The Cornhuskers have a batting average of .297, Rhett Stokes is leading the team with a .408 batting average. As a team the Cornhuskers have a .448 slugging percentage and a .409 on-base percentage. The Cornhuskers have driven in 149 runs on 204 hits. The Cornhuskers have hit 19 home runs, nine less than the Aggies.
On the Mound the Cornhuskers have a team ERA of 4.08. Of the starters Maso McConnaughey is leading the team with an ERA of 1.35. The Aggies are set to face Brett Sears in game one who has an ERA of 1.44, Drew Christo in game two, Christo has an ERA of 4.88, in the final game of the series the Aggies will face off against McConnaughey.
Series History
The Aggies and the Cornhuskers have faced off in ten games. The Cornhuskers lead the series with eight wins to the Aggies two wins. They played half their games in Las Cruces, N.M., where the Aggies recorded both wins at home with three losses.
The Aggies have only played in Lincoln in two games where they lost both games. These two games were played in 2022. The Aggies have played three games in neutral sites losing all three.
