LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The NM State men's tennis team made it three-straight wins on Friday when they cruised past UT-Permian Basin 6-1 at the NMSU Tennis Center.

The Aggies (5-8) didn't have any trouble to start the day, sweeping the Falcons (3-5) in doubles action with all three doubles teams giving up no more than two points in each match.

Singles play was nearly the same with UTPB playing spoiler to an NM State sweep with a win at No. 6 singles.

Freshman
Stijn de Haan got the ball rolling in singles play for New Mexico State when he blasted his counterpart on court No. 4 6-0, 6-1.
Christofer Goncalves made it 3-0 in favor of the Aggies when he downed Cole Davis 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.

Liam Goldberg earned the match-clinching win on court No. 3 when he defeated Gabriel Capuano 6-0, 6-2.

Mauri Benitez gave New Mexico State a 5-0 lead later on when he recorded his win over Caio Aguiar 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 5 singles position.

Strahinja Trecakov took down Raul Stevens at the top singles position 6-4, 6-3 to make it 6-0 for NM State before
Simon D'Alfonso dropped his first dual match in a tiebreaker – 2-6, 7-5 (11-9).

The Aggies now take their three-match winning-streak into Western Athletic Conference play next Thursday, March 24, at 1 p.m. (MDT) against Seattle U, followed by UTRGV (March 25) and Grand Canyon (March 26).
