LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State men's tennis was edged on Saturday by preseason favorite Grand Canyon, 4-3, at the NMSU Tennis Center.
Â
In doubles action, Grand Canyon (11-6, 3-0 WAC) struck first with a 6-2 win at doubles No. 3. The NM State No. 2 doubles pair of

Stijn de Haan won their seventh-straight doubles match when they defeated GCU's Mitch Maroscher and Meidy Chazeau 6-4 to tie things up.
Â
However, GCU grinded out the win at No. 1 doubles 6-3 to take a 1-0 lead into singles play.
Â
Goldberg quickly tied things up for NM State (7-9, 2-1 WAC) with a 6-1, 6-3 win over GCU's Alexander Roggenkamp for his fifth-straight victory. The senior has now won six of his last nine matches in singles play.
Â
The 'Lopes regained the lead shortly after when Chazeau downed

Â
Like Goldberg,

Heading in the third set, the match continued to swing both ways. With the third set all squared at 4-4, de Haan was bested by Rojaonah 6-4 to give GCU the 4-3 win.
