GREELEY, Colo. – In its first Western Athletic Conference meet of the season, NM State swimming and diving dropped a 187.60-112.50 decision at Northern Colorado on Saturday afternoon.
 
"We knew we would have some tough early season tests this weekend and despite the losses, there was a lot we learned about our teamed," said head coach 
Rick Pratt. "Our divers keep getting better; 
MacKinna Hauff was very good today. Moving forward, we have to get healthy and keep working hard. It's a long season and we've got much to work on to be successful in the spring"
 
In the first race of the day, the 400 Medley relay, NM State's team of 
Lanie McAlpin, 
Hanna McGowan, 
Reagan Nentwich and 
Lauren Hemburrow finished second with a time of 3:59.43. 
Neza Kocijan, 
Ashley Reynolds, 
Katherine Harston and 
Mackenzie Baird came in fourth at 4:07.60.
 
The 1000 Free saw 
Grace Laporte (11:17.53) and 
Sina Wegel (11:21.53) finish fourth and fifth respectively.
 
Anabel Ivanov finished third in the 200 Free with a time of 1:58.22 while Hemburrow (1:59.17) and 
Airam Oliva-Aun (2:01.96) came in fourth and fifth.
 
Next, McAlpin touched second in the 100 Back with a time of 1:01.2. Nentwich came in fifth at 1:02.51 and 
Barbora Krizanova (1:02.55) finished sixth.
 
In the 100 Breast, McGowan, 
Lauren Wood and 
Ashley Reynolds finished 3-4-5 with times of 1:06.08, 1:08.35 and 1:09.45 respectively.
 
Katherine Harston picked up the win in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:12.14 while 
Moana Houde-Camirand (2:22.55) and 
Mikaela Miele (2:24.22) finished third and fifth.
 
Kocijan (25.14) and Ivanov (25.29) finished third and fourth in the 50 Free and Oliva-Aun (25.90) finished seventh.
 
In the 3m Dive, 
MacKinna Hauff took first with a score of 278.77 while 
Sheridan Decker placed third at 219.45.
 
The 100 Free saw Hemburrow take second at 53.66, just behind the Bears' Rose Saya at 53.65. Kocijan (55.77) and Baird (56.07) finished fourth and fifth respectively.
 
Ivanov (2:10.64) and McAlpin (2:12.93) finished third and fourth in the 200 back while Wegel (2:17.62) placed fifth.
 
Then, Wood finished the 200 Breast in second at 2:25.21 while Krizanova (2:29.62) and Reynolds (2:35.63) finished at fourth and fifth.
 
In the 500 Free, Harston recorded a time of 5:22.32 for a third place finish and Laporte finished fifth at 5:30.45.
 
The 100 Fly saw Hemburrow (59.64), Nentwich (59.99) and Oliva-Aun (1:02.05) finish second, third and fourth in respectively.
 
Hauff again notched a first-place finish, this time scoring a 254.93 on the 1m Dive, just ahead of Decker who scored 252.60.
 
Wood (4:42.75), McAlpin (4:46.76) and Harston (4:53.39) finished third, fourth and sixth respectively in the 400 IM.
 
In the final event of the afternoon, the 200 Free relay, Ivanov, Kocijan, Oliva-Aun and Baird touched second with a time of 1:39.73. The squad of Wegel, Laporte, Krizanova and Reynolds placed third at 1:41.90.
 
New Mexico State swimming and diving is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 11:30 a.m. (MT) when it hosts CSU Pueblo at the Swimming and Diving Complex. All fans receive free admission to Aggie home swim meets.
