To this day, remains the greatest football team in NM State history with an undefeated 11-0 mark...Won the Border Conference Championship over Arizona State...Won the Sun Bowl for the second-straight year...Beat Utah State, who was led by eventual NFL Hall of Fame member Merlin Olsen...Led the nation in a number of individual and team offensive categories...Seven players went on to play professionally including First Team AP All-American Pervis Atkins and future NFL All-Pro selection Charley Johnson...Coached by Warren Woodson.
